Chris Harris steps out in the Renault Sport Trophy

Making his debut drive in the Renault Sport Trophy at the legendary Silverstone track this weekend, journalist Chris Harris shared his views on the Renault Sport R.S. 01 after Friday’s collective testing.

Forming one half of crew No14 at Monlau Competicion, alongside French driver Paul-Loup Chatin – the reigning ELMS LMP2 champion at the wheel of the Alpine – , Chris Harris said he was “blown away” by the performance of the latest car to emerge from Renault Sport Technologies’ motorsport workshops. “It’s a very exciting car and really quick with it,” he said, barely concealing his enthusiasm.

The British journalist said he was taken aback by the aerodynamic efficiency of the Renault Sport R.S. 01 and by the performance of its braking system, and admitted to needing more than an hour of testing before being able to tap the car’s potential to the full.

After getting to grips with the car in his first session, Harris picked up the pace in the second to post the seventh-fastest time in the Prestige category.

This weekend will see him compete in the endurance race (70 minutes + one lap) with Paul-Loup Chatin and in the sprint race (25 minutes + one lap) for Prestige drivers.

Harris added that he was impressed by the friendly and professional atmosphere in the World Series by Renault paddock, which he is experiencing for the first time, and by the level of access that fans have to it.

You can watch a video of Chris Harris performing donuts at the wheel of the Renault Sport R.S. 01 on the World Series by Renault Facebook page and in the 11 September episode of the Motors TV magazine.
