Double pole for Jack Aitken
Jack Aitken will start Saturday’s two Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 races at Silverstone in pole position after outpacing the field in qualifying with a time of 1:57.295. The half-British, half-South Korean driver will head the grid in Race 1 from Harrison Scott (AVF), Kevin Jörg (Josef Kaufmann Racing), Darius Oskoui (ART Junior Team) and Jake Hughes (Koiranen GP). In Race 2, meanwhile, he will share the front row with Ben Barnicoat (Fortec Motorsports), with Kevin Jörg, Harrison Scott and Jake Hughes completing the top five. Points leader Louis Delétraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) will start 12th and sixth respectively.
Group A
Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport) posted the first time and was quickly joined on the timesheets by Louis Delétraz. Friday’s fastest rookie Jehan Daruvala (Fortec Motorsports) then entered the fray, only for Darius Oskoui and then Harrison Scott to go quickest, the latter ending the session on top with a time of 1:58.093 from the Swiss and the Fortec Motorsports trio of Daruvala, Ben Barnicoat and Martin Kodric, with less than three tenths of a second separating the top ten.
Group B
Thiago Vivacqua (JD Motorsport) was the first driver to beat Harrison Scott’s benchmark time, though the pace picked up even more in the closing five minutes, with Jack Aitken lapping in 1:57.294 to snatch pole. Kevin Jörg and Jake Hughes came in behind him, followed by Dennis Olsen (Manor MP Motorsport) and Ferdinand Habsburg (Fortec Motorsports).
Saturday’s two Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 races start at 13:45 and 17:25.
