Happy birthday Kevin Korjus !
Estonian driver Kevin Korjus, the 2010 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 champion, celebrates his 22nd birthday today.
After making his debut in a Formula Renault 2.0 in Finland, Kevin Korjus broke on to the international scene in the Formula Renault 2.0 North European Cup before earning his first World Series by Renault drive in 2010.
Driving for the Koiranen Bros team, the Estonian was the first man to win a race in the new Formula Renault 2.0 car launched in 2010, and went on that season to become the youngest ever champion in the category.
He switched the following year to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, driving for Tech 1 Racing as part of the Renault Driver Development programme. During the course of the 2011 season Korjus became the youngest driver ever to win a Formula Renault 3.5 Series race and eventually finished sixth in the championship.
In 2012 he signed for Tech 1 Racing and then Lotus, ending the season in 10th place.
At the end of 2011 the Estonian was invited to drive the Renault R31 at the Abu Dhabi young driver test and was a reserve driver for Lotus F1 Team at the following year’s Belgian Grand Prix.
Renault Sport’s teams wish him a very happy birthday.
