Jörg leads Hungaroring practice
Winner of two races in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC last weekend, Kevin Jörg (Josef Kaufmann Racing) stood out this Friday in setting best time in the collective tests at the Hungaroring. The third round of the 2015 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season got underway with the Swiss driver completing a lap in 1:42.263 to lead from Ukyo Sasahara (ART Junior Team) and championship leader, Louis Delétraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing). First in the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS and back at the track where he won his first Eurocup race last year, Jack Aitken (Koiranen GP) was quickest in the morning session.
Aitken takes morning honours
During a hard fought session, the battle for the best time saw Jack Aitken, Jake Hughes (Koiranen GP) and Louis Delétraz each sit atop the order. With 20 minutes remaining, Kevin Jörg took over, but Jack Aitken answered with a time of 1:43.148. The Anglo-Korean held on to the top spot at the end of a session marked by a red flag caused by Harrison Scott (AVF). Ignazio D’Agosto (Manor MP Motorsport) was second, followed by Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport), Kevin Jörg and wild-card entry Vasily Romanov (Cram Motorsport). Tenth overall, Harrison Scott was the best placed rookie.
Best time for Jörg
In the afternoon, Ignazio D’Agosto and Ukyo Sasahara neared the time set by Jack Aitken, but it was he himself who was the first to improve upon his time. Anton De Pasquale (Koiranen GP) then went quicker, as did Matevos Isaakyan, Louis Delétraz and Kevin Jörg, who posted the fastest lap with three minutes left on the clock. His time of 1:42.263 was good enough to see him lead the way ahead of Ukyo Sasahara and Louis Delétraz. Russia’s Vasily Romanov and Matevos Isaakyan completed the top five. In ninth position, Anton De Pasquale was best among the rookies.

Kevin Jörg : “I was quickest on new tyres, so the day was positive. I look forward to doing the same in qualifying. Our pace on used rubber was also good. With my two victories at the Red Bull Ring last week, I think that we now have everything in place and I hope to build on this momentum.”
Ukyo Sasahara : “This is my first time at the Hungaroring ; I had to get as much experience as I could. This morning was good, but we had to make improvements both to the car and driver. We managed to bring it all together in the afternoon despite a little bit of traffic. We are in contention and I feel positive for qualifying.”
Jack Aitken : “It was a good day with a different strategy from most of our rivals. We used our set of new tyres this morning and we had a good lead of 4/10ths of a second from D’Agosto. This afternoon, I took the lead while on used rubber and some of the guys were on new tyres. Our pace is excellent, but we’ll have to see how it goes in qualifying. It should still be very warm, tyre degradation will be important. Since the start of the season, we haven’t been very lucky and I made some mistakes, but we remain positive !”
