Oliver Rowland at the wheel of the Red Bull RB8

Oliver Rowland’s reward for leading the Formula Renault 3.5 Series standings after nine races is a drive in the Red Bull RB8 at the next Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 Show, which will be held at the Silverstone World Series by Renault meeting on 5-6 September.

A winner at Motorland Aragon, Spa-Francorchamps, the Hungaroring and the Red Bull Ring so far this season, the British driver, who finished a runner-up in the 2013 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 2013 and fourth the following year, currently holds a 26-point lead over his closest pursuer, Matthieu Vaxivière.

Thanks to that healthy cushion at the top of the standings, the Fortec Motorsports man has earned a drive in a Formula One car in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 Show, his second outing in an F1 single-seater, the first having also come at Silverstone, in a McLaren in 2012.

“Even though I’ll be focusing on the championship at Silverstone, driving the Red Bull with its V8 engine will be a fantastic opportunity,” said the Briton. “My thanks to the World Series by Renault for giving it to me.”
