Open-wheel hopefuls invited to discover the Formula Renault 2.0
Resolutely focused on the detection and training of the best motor racing prospects, Renault Sport Racing will continue its programme by inviting the best open-wheel hopefuls for a day of testing. At the conclusion of the 2016 season, a dozen drivers among the most impressive of their generation will be invited to test a Formula Renault 2.0.
Like each year, Renault Sport Racing will invite a number of drivers to gauge themselves in a Formula Renault 2.0 in view of 2017.
Those chosen are among the most promising competitors in the French F4 Championship, the ADAC Formel 4, the Italian F4 Championship, the SMP F4 NEZ Championship, the British F4 as well as the BRDC British F3 Championship and from karting.
Following the outcome of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, these young talents will have the opportunity to judge themselves at the wheel of the 210hp Formula Renault 2.0, whose qualities are known world-wide, at Circuito Estoril on October 25. Each will run in two four-hour sessions.
Since its introduction in 2013 after the title won by Stoffel Vandoorne, the latest generation of the Formula Renault 2.0 has taken Pierre Gasly, Nyck de Vries, Jack Aitken and Lando Norris to the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 crown.
Since 2013, the “School of Champions” organised by Renault Sport Racing has revealed a new generation of drivers of which Esteban Ocon is the first to compete in F1. Oliver Rowland, Louis Delétraz, Kevin Jörg, Antonio Fuoco, Charles Leclerc, Alexander Albon, Ben Barnicoat, George Russell, Luca Ghiotto, Jake Hughes, Alfonso Celis, etc hope to join him in the next few years.

Our goal is to continue to place these promising young hopefuls in an ultra-competitive environment. All of them will have one day to manage the pressure and get the most from their car to reach the elite and allow them to access all the needed tools as early in their career as possible in joining the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 !”
