The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup brings future talent to Silverstone
In its tenth year and the international Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup is once again at Silverstone for its second race weekend of the season.

The first two races of the season were at Monza. Ukyo Sasahara (ART Junior Team) won race 1 and Louis Delétraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) race 2. They are the numbers one and two in the points standing. The numbers three and four however are rookies : Max Defourny (ART Junior Team) and Jehan Daruvala (Fortec Motorsports).
For the first time in its existence the FR2.0 Northern European Cup has introduced the Rookie ranking. At Silverstone nine rookies (16 and 17 years old) will participate. They are recognised by the red number on their car.

Fortec Motorsports has five rookies under its wing : Alex Gill (UK), Jehan Daruvala (IND), Zachary Claman de Melo (CAN), Ferdinand Habsburg (AUT) and Charlie Eastwood (IRL). Josef Kaufmann Racing is looking after Nikita Mazepin (RUS) and Dries Vanthoor (BEL), the RACB National Team talent. The ART Junior Team brings the Swiss born Darius Oskoui and the Formula Renault 1.6 graduate Max Defourny (BEL)
Race 1 at Monza saw six rookies in the top 12, race 2 four rookies.
It will be an interesting mix of rookies, new entrants in the FR2.0 NEC series and seasoned FR2.0 drivers fighting it out on the track for points and top honours.
Both 25 minutes races will be broadcast live with both German and English commentary. The English commentary can be heard at www.formularenault.tv while the Germany commentary can be heard at www.renault-sport.de/live.
