They celebrate season ten of WSR with us #1 : Antonio Felix da Costa
Infiniti Red Bull Racing test and reserve driver Antonio Felix da Costa is on duty at Motorland Aragon this weekend. The Portuguese was back in the paddock he graced in 2012 and 2013, only this time at the wheel of the Red Bull RB8, giving us the perfect opportunity to grab an interview with him.
Name one track you dream of driving.
“I’ve been lucky enough to drive Spa and the Nürburgring, but I’d love to try something new, maybe in the USA, like Long Beach or Laguna Seca.”
A driver you dream of beating.
“The driver I dream of beating every year is the one I’m racing against.”
A championship you dream of competing in.
“Formula One. That’s my objective. It’s what I’ve been driving for all my life.”
A race you’ve dreamed of watching.
“I’ve been lucky enough to see quite a few. I’ve seen Vettel win on several occasions, for example, and it was really great to experience all that as part of the world-championship-winning Red Bull Racing team.”
Your happiest memory of World Series by Renault ?
“Probably not my first win because I got very lucky there, to be honest. I’d say one of the eight others, like Budapest 2013. We got our strategy just right there and we were very fast too.”
It’s World Series by Renault’s tenth season this year. Can you tell us what you were doing ten years ago ?
“It was round about then that I decided I wanted to be a driver. I was karting and it was my first international season. Ten years later and here I am, in the World Series by Renault paddock, at the wheel of an F1 car. That’s not bad !”
And what will you be doing in ten years’ time ?
“I’m going to be happy whichever path I take. I’ve had the good fortune to become a professional racing driver and I’m going to carry on for the next 30 years.”
