We asked Séb Buemi for his impressions ahead of the race.

Séb, you lead the Drivers’ championship and arrive in Berlin with two wonderful victories from Monaco and Paris. What’s your mindset ahead of this event ?

I feel the same as I did prior to Monaco and Paris. We’ve just finished three days of testing with the Z.E 16 in Italy so we are working very hard to continue our current form. My objective for this busy weekend in Berlin is the same as the previous ones : fighting for victory in both races. I am trying not to think about the championship because we don’t know what will happen, especially due to the clash with WEC (the New York ePrix will be held on the same day as the 6 Hours of Nürburgring, on July 16th). As always, I will fight hard to score as many points as I can for the Drivers’ and Teams’ championships. We have shown from the start of the season that we learn from our mistakes, so this gives me confidence that we can achieve yet another great weekend.

We race in Tempelhof for the second time. You finished P2 on the very same track in 2015. What are the challenges of this circuit ?

The track has been modified since we were here in 2015. The circuit is very different from the rest on the calendar. The walls provide a familiar challenge but it is quite wide and above all, the circuit is formed of concrete, not asphalt. This is what makes it so special. Two years ago, we struggled a bit to get the tyres up to temperature. The key to this weekend will be to have a high- performance car and extract the most out of it.

Finally, what are your expectations for this weekend ?

Expectations are the same as usual. You have to try to have a good car in the morning during free practice sessions. We must not make mistakes and we will fight for victory. Having two races in the weekend is both an advantage and a disadvantage. If we do a bad race on Saturday, we have the opportunity to improve on Sunday and start on a better feeling. Nevertheless, chaining a second race means more stress and fatigue and so it may be a little easier to make mistakes on Sunday. That is why we will do our best to fight and get the maximum points.
