Renault Clio struck again this weekend. From France to Brazil, and across Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Turkey, Renault competitors posted strong results in rallying and rallycross.

Clio Trophy Spain Tierra & Spanish Gravel Rally Championship

After winning the season opener at Rallye Tierras Altas de Lorca, Tomás Llinares and Nacho Aviñó repeated at Rallye Ciudad de Pozoblanco. They secured first place in the Clio Trophy Spain Tierra, finishing ahead of Salvador España and Gema Cañero, who edged out Jaime López and David Fernández for second by just 0.4s. Llinares’ win extends his lead in the general classification before the next round at Rally Princesa de Asturias (11–12 September).

The event was part of the Spanish Gravel Rally Championship. Japanese driver Rio Ogata and Finnish co-driver Mikael Korhonen finished fourth overall and secured a class victory with Clio Rally3. Kanta Yanaguida and Ville Mannisenmäki also placed in the top three with another Clio Rally3. Jordi Nualart and Daniel Rivera were less fortunate and retired after an off with Clio Rally4.

The 25th edition of the Rally Estação hosted round two of the Brazilian championship. Competing with Clio Rally4, Leandro Brustolin and Andrey Karpinski got their season back on track in style by winning the gravel stages in both rounds held during the event. Long-time leaders on day one with Clio Rally5, Eduardo Tonial and Lucas Neumann secured a 1-2 finish for Renault in Rally 4 and RC4 on the second day.

Irish Tarmac Rally Championship

Third in their class at the start of the season at the Galway International Rally, Adrian Quinn Jr and Des Sherlock demonstrated just how much progress they had made in their Clio Rally3 at round four of the season. On the special stages of the International Rally of the Lakes, the pair set three fastest times and were in contention for victory right up until the final kilometres, before having to settle for a promising runner-up spot in RC3.

Mexican Rally Championship

A fixture on both the NACAM and Mexican scenes, the RAC 1000 Rally saw Emiliano Retama and Jonathan Dávila dominate their class with Clio Rally5. Consistent and focused throughout the twelve special stages of a demanding gravel route, the crew avoided numerous pitfalls to win in RC5 whilst also finishing in the top five overall.

Clio Rally5 also triumphed at Rally Bodrum, the second round of the Turkish championship. Ugur Kaban and Mert Kaya took the top spot in the RC5 class and a podium finish in the two-wheel-drive category on the gravel stages. Sinan Soylu and Ali Emre Yilmaz also impressed with Clio Rally3, finishing second in the RC3 class and sixth overall.
