Hadrien David signs with the Renault Sport Academy for 2020
Renault Sport Racing is delighted to welcome Frenchman Hadrien David to the Renault Sport Academy for 2020.
Hadrien joins the programme as part of the prize for winning the 2019 French Formula 4 Championship. Aged just 15, he become the youngest-ever victor of an FIA F4 series following seven wins and seven podiums across the 21-race campaign.
Born in Royan, France, Hadrien began karting as an eight-year-old winning the National Minime Karting Series in 2015 and the Cadet Series in 2016. In 2019, Hadrien made his single-seater debut in French Formula 4, while also competing in selected rounds of the South East Asia Formula 4 – winning six races from eight events - and German Formula 4 series as part of his development.
For 2020, Hadrien will step up to the Formula Renault Eurocup with Dutch team MP Motorsport. The championship enters its 50th season this year with nine of the ten rounds hosted at Grand Prix venues, including on the Formula 1 support card in Monaco.
Renault Sport Academy Director, Mia Sharizman :
“We’re very pleased to announce Hadrien as part of the Renault Sport Academy for 2020. Hadrien is amongst the most talented young racing drivers in France, so we’re looking forward to helping him progress his career this year. Hadrien is very young, and it’s impressive that he already has a single-seater title on his CV after winning French Formula 4 last year. The Eurocup provides an excellent platform for him to develop and prove the exciting talent that he is. We’ll be doing our best to help him develop this year.”
Hadrien David :
“It’s a dream come true to join the Renault Sport Academy on the back of my French Formula 4 title triumph last season. I can’t wait to be wearing Renault team colours in 2020 and competing in the Formula Renault Eurocup – a championship I’ve been watching since I was young. It’s going to be a very competitive series, and I’ll be the youngest driver on the grid too, but that’s a challenge I’m looking forward to taking on. It’s going to be great having the Academy’s support and I’m sure we can achieve good things this season.”
